Staff

 

The staff of the New Mexico Land Conservancy works closely with the Board of Directors and is responsible for most of the implementation and all of the day-to-day administration of the organization.

Executive Director

Scott has 20 years of experience working in natural resource management, land conservation and community development throughout the Rocky Mountain West and Latin America. Since joining NMLC in 2004, Scott has managed NMLC’s conservation, stewardship and outreach programs, which have resulted in the protection of over 70,000 acres of land throughout the state. Scott was named Executive Director in 2006.

Scott has worked previously for The Trust for Public Land, Colorado Open Lands, The Nature Conservancy’s Latin American Division, the Tropical Forest Foundation and the U.S. Forest Service. Scott grew up in Wyoming where he gained his love for the land and the great outdoors. He also served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Honduras and is fluent in Spanish. Scott has a B.S. in Forest Management from Northern Arizona University, and a M.A. in Geography and Latin American Studies from University of New Mexico.

Michael Scisco

 

 

Michael Scisco
Conservation Specialist

Michael has over seven years of experience working in the natural resource conservation field. Michael joined NMLC in January 2008 and supports the organization’s conservation, stewardship and outreach efforts.

Michael has worked previously for the North Carolina Coastal Land Trust, Ecotrust, and the USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service.

Michael has extensive conservation planning and GIS experience related to open space preservation, water quality enhancement, riparian corridor conservation, and farmland preservation. Michael holds a B.S. in Environmental Science from Western Washington University and a Graduate Certificate in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) from Portland State University.

Kris Murphey
Office Manager

Kris has worked for many years in non-profit administration, specializing in database management, desktop publishing, copyediting and project management. She joined NMLC as part-time office manager in August of 2007 and is glad to be contributing to land preservation efforts in New Mexico.


In addition to her work with NMLC, Kris’ volunteer activities include work on hunger relief, early childhood education, family violence prevention, and historic preservation. She has a B.A. in linguistics from the University of California at Berkeley.
