John F. McCarthy, Jr., a native of Taos, is an attorney practicing with the firm of Cuddy & McCarthy, LLP, in Santa Fe, with primary emphasis in the area of real estate law.
Mr. McCarthy is Past President of the New Mexico State Bar and the New Mexico Bar Foundation. He served as Santa Fe City Attorney from 1969 to 1970. He is a member of both the American Bar Association and the New Mexico Bar Sections on Real Property and has lectured on real estate issues. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Benedict’s College and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of New Mexico. He was a member of the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps from 1960 to 1963.
His volunteer work includes serving on boards for Villa Theresa Medical Clinic, the Garcia Street Neighborhood Association, New Mexico Children’s Foundation, Catholic Social Services of Santa Fe, Inc., St. Vincent Hospital Foundation and other organizations. In addition to various commercial and residential transactions, he serves clients involved in land subdivision and development, ranching, recreation, commercial leasing, and electrical utility services.
