Chris’s four-decade career spans environmental planning, land conservation, construction engineering, artisan food manufacturing, and satellite communications. Originally from northern New England (NH/VT), he has a background in environmental science and land-use policy. His early consulting work, in collaboration with organizations including The Nature Conservancy, Trust for Public Land, Audubon Society, the Massachusetts Department of Food & Agriculture, and local land trusts, helped conserve over 20,000 acres of watershed, open space, and working farmland. Since moving to New Mexico in 2001, Chris has served as Senior Planner for Rio Arriba County and as a Sustainability Specialist for Santa Fe County. He has also volunteered, serving on governmental advisory boards, commissions, and nonprofit boards focused on land andresource stewardship. Along the way, he founded two artisan food businesses that continue to thrive and ran an adventure motorcycle and mountain bike rental and guide service in Northern New Mexico. Chris currently works in satellite communications and lives with his partner, Floery Mahoney, outside of Santa Fe.
